YOUNG people in Boston are being encouraged to attend free traditional Korean martial art lessons with Kuk Sool Won Boston UK, following a funding boost from Sportivate.
The weekly lessons, which are being held in an attempt to get people to try something new, as well as get fit and motivated, will be held on Monday’s and Thursday’s from 7.30pm until 8.45pm at Boston Girls High School on Spilsby Road.
The Sportivate programme, which is delivered through Lincolnshire Sports Partnership, is a lottery funded project aimed at encouraging 11 – 25 year olds to try sport in their local community for 6 – 8 weeks.
Sonny Boyall from Kuk Sool Won, said: “We are proud to be in working in partnership with Lincolnshire Sports Partnership and Sport England in helping Boston get fit. Kuk Sool Won is a fantastic club and this funding has provided us the opportunity to showcase who we are and what we do in Boston. I would encourage everyone who hasn’t tried Korean martial arts before to come and give it a go.”
Kuk Sool Won is a systematic study of all of the traditional fighting arts, which together comprise the martial arts history of Korea. Key elements include kicking, hand strikes, throws and grappling, joint lock techniques, body-conditioning, martial art healing methods and meditation.
